Made A Bag Using Fabric From Recycled Denim Step By Step:
- Measure & Cut: Decide on the desired height for the zipper placement.
- Cut two strips of denim fabric, each measuring 40 cm x 6 cm.
- Reinforce: Attach non-woven fabric to the strips for added stability.
- Attach Zipper Plugs: Sew the small denim pieces (8 cm x 4 cm) to the ends of the zipper, creating a clean, reinforced finish.
2. Attach the Zipper to the Main Pieces
- Position & Sew: Place the zipper face-to-face with the top edge of one denim piece. Stitch it in place.
- Add the Lining: Align the lining fabric face-to-face with the same zipper edge and sew. Ensure all edges are even.
- Secure the Seam: Press the seam allowance upwards and stitch along the edge to keep the lining in place.
3. Create a Pocket for the Lining (Optional):
- Prepare the Pocket: Cut a 40 cm x 3 cm strip of denim and pair it with lining fabric to form a pocket.
- Attach to Lining: Secure the pocket to one of the lining pieces, ensuring it is evenly aligned and sewn properly.
4. Prepare the Handles:
- Cover the Sling Tape: Fold the denim strip (40 cm x 10.5 cm) around the sling tape, enclosing it completely.
- Sew for Durability: Stitch along both edges of the denim to secure the sling tape and reinforce the handles.
- Position on the Bag: Attach the handles to the main denim pieces, spacing them evenly (e.g., 11 cm from each side edge).
5. Assemble the Bag Body:
- Sew the Bag: Place the two main denim pieces face-to-face. Sew along the sides and bottom, leaving the top edge open.
- Trim & Clean: Trim the corners to ensure smooth edges when the bag is turned right side out.
6. Attach the Lining to the Bag:
- Align & Sew: With the bag still inside out, align the lining with the bag, placing them face-to-face.
- Leave a Gap: While sewing around the top edge, leave a small opening in the lining for turning the bag right side out.
7. Finalize the Bag:
- Turn Right Side Out: Use the gap in the lining to turn the bag right side out.
- Close the Gap: Stitch the opening in the lining shut using a straight or invisible stitch.
